Property Management
Avesta Housing manages 100 affordable properties consisting of more than 3,000 apartments. But a building by itself does not make a home. Our success derives from our strong desire to provide our residents with the best possible living experience. Each property's activities and services are site-specific according to the needs of the people who live there.
TRAINED ON-SITE STAFF
All properties managed by Avesta Housing are supported by a team of property managers, resident service coordinators, and maintenance technicians. These trained professionals make sure that buildings are safe, clean, and well-maintained, and assist residents with making connections to the community resources they need to live safely and comfortably.
Financial Counseling
Available to Avesta Housing residents and the community at large, the Avesta Homeownership & Financial Counseling department is a place for people to learn from skilled and compassionate counselors about the intricacies of financial health and how that connects to housing. Its services helps create housing stability for renters and homeowners.
KEEP YOUR HOME
If you are a renter at risk of being evicted because you can't pay rent, or if you are a homeowner struggling to pay your mortgage, our experienced and compassionate staff will help you create an eviction-prevention action plan to improve your situation, free of charge.

- Navigate Maine's foreclosure process (paperwork, mediations, communication with attorneys)

Home for Good
Through a partnership with Preble Street, we provide apartments and 24/7 support services to individuals who have experienced chronic homelessness. We have three Home for Good communities that provide permanent housing, amenities, and support services to help unhoused people transition into safe, stable, permanent housing – Huston Commons, Florence House, and Logan Place.
Food Security
Avesta Housing partners with numerous food banks to help ensure that residents who are food insecure receive the help they need. One of the largest of these partners is Wayside Food Programs, which distributes community meals to Avesta properties and facilitates donations of food from their warehouse to Avesta residents and the broader community.
RECENT IMMIGRANTS
Avesta has developed expertise in effectively serving recent immigrants. We collaborate with many support service providers, including Furniture Friends, Greater Portland Family Promise, and Wayside Food Programs. Funding for these support services comes from individual donors, local and state government, and several Maine-based foundations, including

Resident Scholarships
Every year, Avesta Housing awards scholarships to residents living at our properties who are enrolling in a post-secondary education program, such as college, graduate school, trade school, or certificate program. The annual scholarship helps lessen the financial barriers to pursuing their career goals, and is a prime example of how Avesta helps connect residents with the resources they need to succeed.
